Well, not the greatest start. We, in common with many other beekeepers this year lost our bees. Well we have cleaned up the hives and are looking to get a new swarm or two this year. Overall last year was a bad year all round, with many beekeepers recording low honey crops, but at least so far this year the weather has been much kinder so we are hoping for better.

I will have to say that I am disappointed, but it looks like we will be unable to get a replacement sswarm this year. Many beekeepers have lost hives and are taking rather more care than usual to stop them swarming, or collecting them to replace their own losses.
